Our Club

Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club is an energetic, compassionate, fun-loving and hard-working organization. Chartered in 1938, the Club has earned its long-standing position of respect in our community through its consistent benevolent work.

Ours is one of 59 clubs in Rotary District 6330 - an international district comprising 40 Canadian clubs located throughout southwestern Ontario and the Bruce Peninsula, as well as 17 American clubs in Eastern Michigan and 2 online clubs.

We meet twice monthly in hybrid meetings - in person at the St. George's Anglican Church hall with a ZOOM link for those who cannot attend in person. Meetings are always active and interesting, including a healthy mix of serious "Rotary Business" as well as lots of good fun and fellowship.

Our current club priorities are focused around the theme of KINDNESS which is aligned with the Rotary Internationsl theme of "Serve to Change Lives". Small ordinary acts of kindness in every day life can have a significant and outsized effect on the receiver...we must never underestimate how valued our small kindness might be by the receiver, nor should we underestimate its positive effect on own mental and physical well-being as the 'doer'. As part of this focus on kindness, our priorities for the year are:

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion in our membership and through our service projects locally and internationally

  • Peace, by contributing to the building of a kinder world

  • Protecting the environment for the benefit of future generations and all living things

We have five avenues of service:

Club Service: Attends to the day to day administrations of the well being of our members and club.

Community Service: Plans and implements projects that affect our local community, as selected by either the club or the committee.

Indigenous Relations and Awareness: Plans and leads club members in all club projects and activities surrounding the development of understanding and awareness of Canada's Indigenous Peoples among our members and community leading to beneficial inter-community relations.

International Service: Plans and implements projects that affect our international community, as selected by either the club or the committee.

Youth Service: Oversees all projects dealing with youth -- from Rotary Youth Exchange to school prizes and student seminars.
